This Gold Standard wind power project, based in the Western Anatolia region of Turkey, consists of 119 turbines supplying zero emissions renewable energy to the national grid. The project began in 2009 with its first construction of turbines and the final phase was completed at the end of 2011. At full capacity, it is expected to supply the national grid with approximately 465,000 MWh of clean electricity every year, which would result in annual emission reductions of nearly 300,000 tonnes of CO2e. Approximately 70% of Turkey's electricity is generated from fossil fuels while the vast majority of the remaining 30% is generated from large hydro power projects.
